A rejected photo is the #1 reason India eVisa applications are delayed. Take your photo against a white wall in good daylight, or use a professional photo service. Our team reviews every photo before submission to maximize approval rates.
Your US passport must meet specific conditions before you can apply for India eVisa.
Your US passport must remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you plan to arrive in India. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for your eVisa.
India immigration requires at least 2 completely blank pages in your passport for entry and exit stamps. Pages with visa stickers or partial stamps do not count as blank.
Your passport must be in good physical condition. Torn, water-damaged, or significantly worn passports may be rejected at the Indian immigration counter, even with a valid eVisa.
The India eVisa program covers US passport holders. If you have a different nationality passport alongside your US passport, ensure you use your US passport when applying and traveling.
Note on Passport Renewal: If your US passport does not meet the 6-month validity requirement, we strongly recommend renewing it before applying for your India eVisa. The US Passport Agency typically processes renewals in 6–8 weeks (4–6 weeks with expedited service).
Follow these best practices to ensure your India eVisa application is approved without delays.
The Indian government recommends applying at least 4 days before your travel date. Apply 1–2 weeks early to allow buffer time for any corrections needed.
Your name in the application must exactly match your US passport — including middle names. Even minor discrepancies can cause delays or rejection at immigration.
Blurry or low-resolution passport scans and photos are a leading cause of rejection. Use a scanner at 300 DPI minimum, or photograph documents in strong natural light.
Applying for the wrong visa category (e.g., Tourist eVisa for business travel) will result in rejection at immigration. Be accurate about your purpose of visit.
Once approved, print your India eVisa and carry a physical copy along with your US passport. Digital copies on phone are not always accepted at all entry points.
Don't forget the mandatory India e-Arrival Card — it must be completed online before boarding. Complete it at least 72 hours before your departure.
